Walli is an accredited Mediator and serves on the board of the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims Community. He has served as the Vice President of the Zanzibar Law Society and has served 2 terms as the Chairperson on the Young Lawyers Professional Development Committee at the Tanganyika Law Society. Currently he serves as the Vice Chairperson of the Regional Trade & Integration Committee of the East Africa Law Society and a Member of the Advocates Welfare, Remuneration and Awards Committee of the Tanganyika Law Society. - Played the Lead Counsel in Application of Licenses and Conducting all Negotiations for the Acquiring Licenses all the way towards merging them to get one Mining License for Nyamongo Tanzania Limited and its Partners Osiris Gold Limited.
- Represented Mining Companies such as Bhumi Limited and Kaanagaroo Minerals Limited from their initial Mining License Acquisitions to the Set up of their Operations.
- Saleeka Apartments – Successfully instituted and Won a contractual arbitration against a leading Chinese Telecommunications company worth USD 800,000/.
- Statoil on a variety of Tanzania law related issues in connection with their $10 billion Tanzanian gas commercialization project.
- KPMG Advisory – Analysis and opinion for KPMG on their audit of Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited’s USD 148.4M arbitration dispute against Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) at ICSID, resulting in the Government of Tanzania actively revising its stance on the resolution.
- EFC Tanzania Microfinance Bank – Set up of the initial Microfinance Institution and part of its evolution into a fully-fledged Microfinance Bank. Including capital restructuring, regulatory compliance, ground-up document preparation and systems check to minimise legal risk.
- China Commercial Bank – Set up of the bank in Tanzania. Including license acquisition, regulatory compliance, ground-up document preparation and systems check to minimise legal risk.
- Stanbic Bank (T) (Lead Advisor) – Advise on introduction of Shariah Banking product. Including regulatory compliance and document review and redrafting to conform to Tanzanian banking laws.
- Selcom Wireless/Paytech/Gaming (Lead Advisor) – Corporate restructuring, Legal Due Diligence on proposed public listing, Statutory Compliance including acquisition of licenses from various statutory bodies including but not limited to Bank of Tanzania, Tanzania Communication and Regulations Authority, Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority, Capital Markets & Securities Authority, and Ministry of Industry and Trade.
- City Energy & Infrastructure in connection with 400 MW coal-based power project in a proposed Joint Venture structure with the Government of Tanzania, liaising with several governmental stakeholders, including Prime Minister’s office, Ministry of Energy & Minerals and Ministry of Finance
- Nevada Properties (Lead Advisor) – Legal advisor on their portfolios of properties in Tanzania worth over USD 100M. Handling all their conveyance transactions and corporate compliance matter for the past 7 years.
- Mafia Safari Lodge & Pole Pole Beach (Lead Advisor) – Advise, Due Diligence and Facilitation of their acquisition of property worth over USD 5M and consequent set up of their business set up including handling all regulatory/licensing issues.
- Jubilee Insurance Tanzania (Legal Advisor) – Composite split of core business worth TZS 2bn into Life and General Insurance, including all contracts and policies. Regulatory compliance and approval from Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority and Fair Competition Commission (FCC).
- African Barrick Gold Plc on contractual and competition related matters in connection with the US$ 4.5 million sale of Tulawaka Gold Mine to the Tanzanian State Mining Corporation (STAMICO).
- Due Diligence Advisory (Legal Advisor) – capital markets and securities laws, Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange rules and requirements, anti-competition filings and participating in management meetings and presentations.
- Advice and representation of companies with regards to compliance with public procurement rules, with a particular focus on public private partnerships during formation of PPPs, tendering for projects and representation during procurement complaint process.
